I’m Cath Rennie, and Settle and Chase is an ongoing personal project of mine.
Since I was a small child, staring into rockpools and imagining an entire universe, I’ve loved to look for the largeness hidden within the smallness of things. I go out to the hills or the beach, the forest and the fields, for different reasons. Sometimes I want to stride and leap over things, and climb hills to the top. But often, especially with my camera, I spend time standing, listening, and watching, becoming absorbed into the space.
With the noise and chaos all around us, it can be harder than ever to focus on one single moment, as it unfolds. It can be hard even to see it as precious, when so many other temptations are around. But these still, small treasures, hidden within seemingly ordinary things, are as meaningful, and important to us now as they have ever been.
There’s a small piece of music at the bottom of each gallery, that I wrote for you to listen to as you scroll through, if you’d like to click it.
I really hope you enjoy being here!
